Equine Bodywork, Myofascial Release and Skeletal Mobilization-

A session starts with a static and dynamic physical assessment of the horse and a review of his pertinent history. I enjoy working closely with veterinarians and other complementary practitioners and will generally communicate with anyone who has been working with the horse either prior to or immediately following the first visit.

I will then complete a full body soft tissue and skeletal mobilization session using a combination of Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy and gentle change to skeletal mobilizations.

After the session clients are given stretching exercises and therapeutic work recommendations for their horses as well as observations on saddle fit and shoeing.

Equine sessions usually last 1.5- 2 hours and can take place either at  Cindy’s yard at Glenfern or at clients’ yards. Cindy is always happy to answer any questions, so please contact her via phone, email or Facebook to arrange an appointment or to have a chat.

Some of the conditions for which I have found Myofascial Release to be helpful are:

  • Muscular soreness and pain
  • Gait dysfunction
  • Castration scar compensation issues
  • Scar tissue remodelling
  • General recovery from injury/surgery
  • Kissing spines
  • TMJ /cranial issues
  • Pelvic/sacral imbalances
  • Dehydration
  • Head shaking/poll sensitivity
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Nerve pain
  • Stress and anxiety

Human Myofascial Release-

Cindy treats human clients at the Natural Wellness Clinic in Tiverton, Devon. Initial sessions are 75 minutes with subsequent sessions of 60 minutes. Please contact her via phone, email or Facebook to make an appointment or discuss any issues.

A session begins by taking a history of prior and current issues. We then will work through painful and compensation areas with a combination of myofascial tissue manipulation, trigger point work, assisted and manual stretching and breath assisted tissue release.

Although I particularly enjoy working with athletes and sports related injuries, Myofascial Release can be helpful to many conditions a few of which are listed below:

  • Muscular soreness and pain
  • Headaches and/or migraines
  • TMJ, neck and jaw pain
  • oor circulation/numbness/tingling
  • Lymphatic drainage
  • Scar tissue remodeling
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Gait dysfunction
  • Pelvic pain and dysfunction
  • Menstrual symptom relief
  • Stress and anxiety

Training-

A stretching and strengthening regime is always recommended after an MFR session. This will both enhance and accelerate the effectiveness of the therapy. Stretching helps to increase the elasticity of the newly released fascial tissue. Strengthening  of surrounding muscles will support the fascia and help prevent formation of new adhesions which, over time, can cause injury.

As a long- time British Eventing Accredited Trainer, (see About Cindy) Cindy has taught many clinics around the world and approaches equestrian training from both classical and rehabilitation perspectives. In her training she provides varied and interesting exercises through groundwork, gymnastic dressage and jumping to benefit both horse and rider in their quest for competitive excellence, physical wellbeing and fitness.
